Well folks, I’ve been all over the Internet now. Starting 15 years ago with a text-based ISP called Delphi, I became an Internet junkie. My first website was called The Late Page and was my attempt at mimicking the comic wiles of David Letterman. It would probably have gotten me sued if it had ever taken off — but there was no danger of that.
Immediately following that first endeavor, I launched Planet Utopia. PU was the result of my reading Ayn Rand novel Anthem. I began to formulate my own idea of a Utopian Society and so I sought out like minded people through my site. It was another immense failure!
Then, in Hawaii, I started Lao Tzu Internet Productions. I was going to design websites for local businesses on the island of Oahu. Instead, I wound up launching RockOahu.com. I even plastered the name on the side of my ‘02 Eclipse. The site was aimed at local, underground bands, venues, and studios. It too went the way of thistle — stuck in someones sock and therefore irritating as hell.
In the meantime, I was also designing websites for my bands Spent Beyond Means and Never Again. The SBM site was a horribly designed page of flashing pictures and horrendously long load times. The Never Again site was marvelous. I am proud of that site to this day. Neither of them exist anymore, mind you.
When I left the Navy, I founded my current business enterprise, Mad Squid Productions. It has existed in many different forms, including MadSquid.com, StateofPunk.com, and even as a lowly MySpace page at www.myspace.com/madsquid. I have yet to make any money with my endeavors, but I am still working hard at it.
I have written for a few blogs, as well. My first was called Land of the Goat, Home of the Squid, and was meant to be a fusion of my philosophy with that of Goatism. It was fun, but it failed. Then, I wrote for my friend’s blog, The Internet Examiner. He helped me launch my second blog, State of Punk. Again, they are all gone.
Now that life has prompted me to shift towards writing as a career, I have found need of a blog once again. However, this time it will have to be more reserved. Though I still harbor a love of Punk Rock, I will be toning down my site in order to appeal to a larger audience, if one exists. I have my doubts!
Anyway, expect to find here my musings on current events, politics, science, life in general, and whatever the hell I feel like dragging my readers through at any given time. I hope that you enjoy your wanderings of my site and I look forward to hearing your replies to my madness.
